Research
With over thirty years of experience, Michael collaborates and consults on research projects that incorporate digital methodology in field research or in building geospatial-related research infrastructures, and digital publishing. His expertise includes data visualization and cartography, geospatial technologies including unmanned aerial systems (UAS), RTK/GNSS survey methods, photogrammetry and remote sensing. Michael’s current projects include the Georgia Coast Atlas, OpenWorld Atlanta, and both American Excavations Samothrace and the Samothrace Exploration Project. He is coauthor of Sacred Places: A Guide to the Civil Rights Movement in Atlanta, Georgia and his maps have been published in many print and digital journals, articles, and books. His work also includes projects involving several museum exhibitions. Michael collaborates and consults often with research projects both in the United States and abroad that address areas of environmental concern and cultural heritage.
